Question:
What happens to the data ingested by collector once a user deletes a collector from Sumo Logic? Does the data ingested get deleted after the collector is deleted from Sumo Logic or can a user still access the data ingested by a deleted collector and its sources?
Answer:
Yes, you can access data using search metadata fields that you were accessing it with prior to deletion of the collector. Even if a collector or source is deleted, ingested data remains in Sumo Logic and will be searchable until it ages out as per your subscribed data retention policy.
You can check your data retention by logging to your Sumo Logic UI in one of 2 ways depending on the account type navigating to Administration -> Accounts page in the side navigation bar

2. In the CloudFlex account model, identify the index that the data ingested by the collector is routed to and go to the Settings -> Partitions tab and check the retention column as displayed below:
