We already have host value which will be unique enough within an organization. With that in mind, why does every installed collector need to have a separate name? Basically I am trying to structure the data collection and and looking for some directions or best practices. We have multiple applications. My first thought was use Collector as the App name. So then we have Collector (App1Name), Sources within the app (nginx logs, CPU, etc) and hosts within the app. Then have another collector for (App2Name), Sources within the app (IIS logs, CPU, etc) and hosts within that app. Now that I realize that the Collector names need to be unique, the above "structure" will not work. BTW, interesting thing to note is that when I was setting up the installed collectors manually, I was able to set up 1 Collector name and 4 systems were sending data to that collector via installed collectors. That was the base for the structure I was planning to use.
