Saving results from a query
Hi, I am trying to run a query that pulls a month of data, query takes about 5hrs to complete, if I am away from my desk for a while , Sumologic times out and I have to log back in, and when I do that the query is not there or running anymore,is there a way to have the query run in the background and once completed have it save the results in a csv file or something like that ?

Hi Bishesh -
You can always pin the search which will let you run it in the background and view the results later: https://help.sumologic.com/Search/Library/Pinned-Searches
Let me know if this helps!
Thanks,

Hi Nick,
I tried your solution, however it worked for me last week, but last night I ran a query and had it pinned so I can get the data today, somehow, it is not under my pinned searches tab, I had this issue all day yesterday, I would pin the search and it won't be there after couple hours, any idea on that ?

Hi Bishesh,
Are you seeing any of your previous pinned searches at all? Can you still reproduce this since? There is an issue with pinned searches where if Sumo performs planned maintenance while your search is running, your pinned search may be lost, as documented here. However, I don't believe there was any maintenance on US1 or US2 the other day.
Also, keep in mind that search results are available for three days, after which they will drop off.
Thanks,
Nick

Hi Bishesh,
Unfortunately beyond the things I pointed out above, I'm not sure what exactly is going on. Since that's the case, could you please file a support ticket with us so we can look at this more closely? In the support ticket, please include:
1) The query you were trying to execute
2) The user you were logged in as, whether that was your account, or a shared account
3) Approximate times (and timezone) when you executed the query, and when you checked this morningPlease also include detailed steps of exactly how you went about executing and pinning the search, and the steps you took to check for that search.
Thank you for your patience on this one - we'll get it figured out.
Thanks,
Nick
