    I may get corrected here but from what I just read about sumoshell, I don't think it's meant to execute queries vs. the Sumo service. it appears to allow one to use sumo syntax and transform local log files in a powerful way. If you know python, you might want to checkout https://github.com/SumoLogic/sumologic-python-sdk , which does allow you to run queries using the REST APIs with access key
