    Hello Tu,

There is no need to do that. The Access ID/Key is only used during the registration process of a collector, once registered they are never used again. So there is no need to update this information on already installed collectors unless they need to be registered again.

I also want to point you to the new Installation Token feature, these can be used instead of Access ID/Key. For more information about this, please go to https://help.sumologic.com/Manage/Security/Installation_Tokens.

    Best regards,

    Jorge

Hi Jorge, thanks for your information. But in my case somehow the previous Access ID/Key were removed, so the Installed Collector didn't work well since that time. So we create new one, and re-install the Collector with new Access ID/Key. The problem we are still facing that, the old data of that collector is still available in Sumo logic web application. So when installing with new keys and same collector name, there's a collector with suffix CollectorName-timestamp is added..

    E.g.

The previous installation, collector Name is "ABCCollector" => there was a ABCCollector in Sumo logic web application.

On the second installation with new key (removed the old one), configure collector Name is also "ABCCollector" => so then there's ABCCollector-161712xxxxx is added in Sumo logic web application.

How can we migrate data from old to new one?

    Hello Tu,

Access ID/Keys are only used when installing and registering a collector and never again. If your collector was having trouble it had nothing to do with the removal of the user who held the keys that were used to install the collector. That was just a coincidence.

Two collectors can not have the same name, so the system appends an epoch timestamp to the name. This is ok.

How can we migrate data from old to new one?

It doesn't work that way. What you need to do, in the UI, is delete the old collector and rename the new one with the name of the old. Data from the old one won't be removed and it will be accessible when searching from the new collector if the metadata used on the new one is the same as the old one.

In the future, I suggest that for collector issues you open a support ticket instead for faster response. For information on how to contact us, please go to https://help.sumologic.com/01Start-Here/03About-Sumo-Logic/Contact-Us.

    Best regards,

    Jorge
