Server behind a VPN

If our production servers sit behind a VPN, does that effect sumo's access to the logs in any way?

The Sumo Logic service does not pull messages from your hosts. The log data needs to be forwarded to the service via a Local Collector installed within your environment or by posting to an HTTP source. So as long as your hosts are able to communicate out of your network you should have no issues with getting the logs to us.
If the VPN is behind a proxy and you use that to communicate out to the internet on these hosts there are some additional steps you will need to take to configure any installed Collectors to work with your proxy. The following help has information on configuring the Collector to communicate via a proxy.
